The configuration of your options in Outlook Express 5 should be setup so that you can easily decipher the information on your screen. I believe that I have a pretty simple and easy to read setup for you. I use Outlook Express 5. See if the options are available on your version of Outlook Express.
1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Go to your Text Toolbar and click on View and then click on Layout.
3.

Now match the panels below and see what you think of the set when you click OK when all is configured.

  If you still have preview turned on when you return to the Outlook Express desktop, go back to the Text Toolbar and click on View and Layout once more and the
option of removing the checkmark from
Use Preview Pane should be available.

Here is a little extra

How would you like to get rid of the Outlook Express splash screen?

Disable Outlook Express Splash Screen:

Start Regedit and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{60C1DB40-3D7D-11D3-9948-E8F007254B26}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0

For other versions of O.E.5 the {60C1DB40-3D7D-11D3-9948-E8F007254B26} may be {ABE2B8A0-C02D-11D3-867B-948FF355BD32}

Add a DWORD: NoSplash

Right click on the new DWORD and modify. Give it a value of 1

Beemer Tip:

Keep up to date on the mail that you receive so that the inbox folder does not get cluttered up and it's hard to find an E-mail that came in previously.
